2008/10/22 CSEP meeting

Attendees: Yan K., John Y., Masha L.

1. Kagan-Jackson Smooth Seismisity model for California:
   • Masha changed the code to read ZMAP format of input catalog:
     
     1. Converted Yan's ANSS catalog to ZMAP format
     2. Verified that model generates the same forecast when using Yan's ANSS and ZMAP format catalogs
   • Masha generated forecast using CSEP generated ANSS input catalog:
     
     1. Will send summary of observed differences and forecast to Yan for review
     2. Yan suggested to meet with Dave and Danijel to discuss rules for input catalog event selection:
        • RELM collection area vs. Yan's 500 km window
   • Masha will continue the work on automating the model within CSEP:
     
     1. Will use ZMAP format of Yan's input catalog for the acceptance test
     2. Long-term and short-term forecasts are matching with less than 0.5% differences compared to Yan's forecast
2. Upgrade of New Zealand testing center to CSEP V8.10:
   • Waiting for Matt to upgrade
   • Remaining tasks:
     
     1. Danijel will work on GMT script for forecasts maps
     2. Grid shifting - Danijel suggested to use global grid notation
     3. Web-viewer for the results, still to be resolved to use:
        • Stand-alone web page or
        • Introduce as new testing region within existing CSEP results page
3. csep-op:
   • John said that new hard disk is here, waiting for Maureen from HPCC to bring it on-line
   • There are still 586Gb available which should last for roughly 4 weeks
