Minutes from 28 May 2008

2008/05/28 CSEP meeting

Attendees: Yan, Phil, Danijel, Jeremy, John, Masha

  1. Introducing Western Pacific testing region into the CSEP:
    • Masha changed Fortran code to read date and time from the file instead of making a system call:
      1. There are 41 differences over 1% in column #8 - will send summary to Yan
      2. Long-term and short-term forecast rates are under 1% of differences
    • Model acceptance tests are part of the CSEP build now, and pass
    • Danijel will respond to Warner with testing region rules:
      1. Will ask to split testing region in SW and NW Pacific regions
    • Danijel created ForecastML master templates for NW and SW Pacific regions, sent to Masha
    • Jeremy sent Java code that calculates bin area in km**2 - to be used to calculate bin rate in (EQ per day per degree**2) units
      1. Masha converted code to Python
      2. Jeremy will send reference data for the unit test
    • Tasks left to do:
      1. Conversion utility to populate ForecastML template with Yan's forecast rates
      2. Evaluation tests:
        • Prepare observation catalog:
          1. No catalog uncertainties
          2. Filter by depth and magnitude
          3. Jeremy will send definition of collection and testing areas to Masha
      3. Install and automate Jeremy's one-year model for NW and SW Pacific regions
    • Danijel will write GMT script to generate forecasts maps some time next week
    • John started working on web-site changes to accomodate new testing regions:
      1. California, SW Pacific, NW Pacific
    • Code freeze is scheduled for Monday, June 2, 2008
  2. Hardware:
    • John has set up csep-cert-new server:

      1. CSEP is checked out and built
      2. John installed CruiseControl

      3. Have to run CSEP acceptance tests
