2008/05/14 CSEP meeting

Attendees: Yan, Phil, Danijel, John, Masha

1. Introducing Western Pacific testing region into the CSEP:
   • Jeremy send out rules for Western Pacific testing region to Dave and Yan:
     
     1. Yan confirmed that rules look correct
     2. The only issue is the overlapping region near the equator for SW and NW regions
   • Masha automated NW Yan's model within CSEP:
     
     1. Automatic CMT download
     2. Creates input catalog
     3. Invokes NW model
     4. Uses 31 day delay for the testing date :
        • For validation purposes only will change to zero days to be able to compare against UCLA generated forecasts
   • Danijel will respond to Warner with testing region rules
   • Danijel will generate ForecastML master template for Yan's model:
     
     1. Masha will write conversion utility to populate template with Yan's forecast
   • Masha will work on:
     
     1. Acceptance test for Yan's models
     2. Automating SW Yan's model within CSEP
     3. Utility to split Yan's file that contains long-term and short-term forecasts into two files - for forecast evaluation purpose
2. Software development:
   • Version 8.4.1 was installed in operations on May 5, 2008, includes fixes for Trac tickets:
     
     1. #88 Map for 3 month models not being displayed
     2. #40 Archive yum updates and develop policy for updating csep_operational
     3. #42 Setup matlab stand alone license manager
     4. #86 Delete old result files on publishing web-site if evaluation test is re-run for the test date
     5. #79 Forecasts maps don't display events with magnitude values less than 5.0

     6. #80 Switch from Python ElementTree package used for XML parsing to cElementTree

     7. #81 list->set->list conversion for the list of forecasts files causes two sets of cumulative files for R-test

     8. #82 Cumulative R-test plot is missing on the results web-page.
     9. #63 Test dates that were processed with V1.0 should be reprocessed with V8.1

     10. #78 Introduce BatchProcessing module to reprocess test dates

     11. #49 Look at possibility of making dispatcher runs completely independent.
   • Finished all pending re-processing of test dates with RELM N-test
   • John asked about changes for the web-site:
     
     1. Should introduce testing regions: California, Western Pacific
3. Hardware:
   • Phil asked when CSEP can switch to use new servers:
     
     1. John said that csep-cert can be switched within first week of June, and csep-op after installation of Version 8.7.0 (July 1, 2008)
