2009/01/21 CSEP meeting

  1. CSEP V9.1.1 release candidate status:
    • John and Masha fixed Trac tickets:
      1. #127: ebel.mainshock and ebel.mainshock.corrected R-Test charts not displaying
      2. #128: N-test delta should be computed as poisscdf(N, lambda)
    • Masha tagged release candidate in the repository on January 20, 2009: csep/tags/Version_pre9_1_1_01_20, checked it out on csep-cert server

    • Nightly build didn't finish since csep-cert server went down

      1. John will run some diagnose tests tomorrow when machine is idle
      2. Masha will run CSEP build on csep-devel to evaluate run-time, and possibility of upgrading certification and operational servers to new hardware

    • Release candidate will be tested for a week
    • Tentative installation on operational server is Thursday, January 28, 2009
  2. Tasks for V9.4 release:
    • RELM S (space) and M (magnitude) evaluation tests:

      1. Phil asked about acceptance of these tests by scientific community
      2. Jeremy has sent out tests summary for a review - so far no response
    • Staging of existing raw catalog data to be used by re-processing
    • New web representation of test results:
      1. Danijel suggested to create plots for all results on the web-server site
      2. Acceptance tests for web viewing code
      3. Will need to publish already existing test results in XML format, but extra care must be taken in posting re-processed test dates - only latest results should be posted
    • Modular functionality of the CSEP Toolkit:
      1. Most of the modules can be invoked in standalone mode
      2. There is a lack of documentation on how to invoke modules:
        • Use Doxygen?
    • Danijel asked if CSEP distribution and dependent packages can be organized in the yum-like way
      1. John will look into how to create rpm for CSEP releases
      2. May be should use distutils?
      3. Phil suggested to have a design meeting to discuss implementation
    • New models for Global testing region from Yan, Danijel, Peter:
      1. Yan has global forecast models using CMT catalog (M.+5.8) and PDE catalog (M>=5.0)

        • To be discussed with USC team when and which models to install within SCEC testing center
    • Integration of Japanese codes:
      1. Masha will send email to Fabian asking if Japanese codes are ready for integration
