Minutes from 16 June 2009
2009/06/16 CSEP Meeting
Attendees: Phil M., Jeremy Z., John Y., Masha L
- csep-op:
- V9.4.2 running since Thursday, May 28, 2009:
- Re-processing:
- N, L and R tests for RELM groups for 2007
- 2007-08-02 and 2007-10-02 test dates failed due to NFS server problems
- Stuck cseprandom processes during re-processing:
- John tried many different options that don't fix the problem
- Masha will try to write random numbers to the file to see if it fixes the problem
- John suggested to write to the local disk if the problem still exists
- John pointed out that it might be a hardware problem
- Have seen NFS server not responding
- Consider buying new hardware
- N, L and R tests for RELM groups for 2007
- Re-processing:
- V9.4.2 running since Thursday, May 28, 2009:
- Matt updated New Zealand testing center to V9.4.2
- Matt reported pop up windows with plots on operational server
- Masha filed Trac ticket #157: fixed in SVN
- Matt asked for ability to re-process file-based forecasts in batch mode
- Masha filed Trac ticket #159: to be fixed in V9.7
- Matt reported pop up windows with plots on operational server
- Tasks for CSEP V9.7 release:
- DONE Peter Shebalin's EAST three-month alarm-based model with M>=4 for California
- DONE Yan's Global long-term and short-term models using CMT:
- Yan provided a fix for rate grid conversion to have XX.5 values for forecast cell centers
- Masha installed one-day and one-year models on csep-cert
- added acceptance tests that include rate conversion tests
- Masha will send email to the group to confirm the start date for one-year forecast on csep-op
- Masha added new S and M tests for all groups that invoke N and L evaluation tests on csep-cert:
- M-test should not be invoked for Global, WPacific regions - forecasts have only a single magnitude bin, therefore there is no magnitude distribution
- DONE Trac ticket #148: Introduce acceptance tests for the viewer of testing center results
- Masha and John are working on getting the tests as part of nightly CSEP build on csep-cert
- Jeremy provided a fix for N-test due to the comments by David Rhoades and Matt:
- Will have delta1 and delta2 result variables vs. current one delta variable
- Not necessary to have intermediate release because of the fix
- May be a target for V9.10.0
- Jeremy will confirm if daily N-test plot is affected by the change
- Masha will start working on it once V9.7 release candidate is out
- mini_CSEP distribution
- Jeremy suggested to poll community for requirements
- N, L, R, M and S tests written in Python
- Conversion routines between XML and Matlab for the forecasts
- Plots, maps
- We should provide list of external package dependencies and links to these packages
- Masha will start working once release candidate is out
- May have an intermediate release when distribution is ready
- Jeremy suggested to poll community for requirements
- Jeremy gave an update on CSEP testing centers:
- Japan
- A dozen of models using JMA data source
- Multiple testing regions
- Iceland
- To be tested at ETH may be in an year
- Italy
- To be tested at ETH
- Deadline for model submission is August 1, 2009
- China
- Jeremy will participate in a meeting with Chinese EQ Administration beginning of July
- Japan
- John is working on adding daily results to the web viewer
- Jeremy suggested to concentrate on results representation for the next release
- Hardware:
- John built new csep-cert
- CruiseControl is installed
- John will install missing 3-rd party packages CSEP is using
- csep-devel already uses new hardware, will need to update packages
- John built new csep-cert
